6 speed tranny and drive shaft rusted???
hey guys whats up? just traded my dodge 1500 quad W/HEMI in on a new 2005 2500 HD quad W/CUMMINS TURBO and 6 speed manual. My question is< I was installing some step rails when I noticed the drive shaft and the tranny housing look like there is rust on them. I still have the 1500 here too(dont have to take it in till Sat. cause I was taking all my access. off of it to put on my new dodge) it has no rust on drive shaft at all. My wife drives a 2005 durango W/HEMI and it also has rust forming on the shaft. I was wondering if anyone else has this or if I need to tell the dealer about it. The 2500 only had 110 miles on it when I picked it up on Tues. Im new too the Cummins board and would be greatfull for any info you guys have to give. Thanks Sonny[8D]
Yes mine has the same thing. I can only figure they due not use better metal for driveshafts like say the Nissan or F-150. Combined that with they probably set outside in the weather waiting to be pulled for production. I am certain there is no cause for alarm. The only thing needed is to be cleaned and painted or looks sake.
