I just picked up a New 2006 3500 Mega Cab with the 5.9 CTD. It rides great. I have heard differing opinions about how many miles I need to have on it before I tow my 8,000 lb travel Trailer. I have heard from 500 mile to 3000 miles. Any techies out there with similar opinions? Thanks Haystacks

 

realy the 500 miles is to make sure everything in the diff is seated.

I have the same question, but my toyhauler is a 5ver with a Gross Weight of about 14K. I also just lifted it 6" and put 37s on it. I just want to find out how many miles before I start towing the beast.

 

coach, the first thing I would be worried about is the pin height on your 5vr to make sure you can get it into the 5th wheel, and you wont be bottoming out the trailer onto your bed.

Had a buddy ('03 CTD owner) say 500 miles before towing. Had the dealership tech say "Drive it like ya stole it". Have about 430 on it now, and pick up the trailer today. Towing starts tomorrow.
