tranny shuttling out of over drive
I have a 98 2500 with a cummings under the hood. The transmission keeps shuttling out of overdrive at 48mph to 60mph. The dealer looked at it and stated it was a bad ground they cleaned the battery cables. This problem came back after 2 days. My truck is now back at the dealer and they are troubleshooting it. I have changed out the governing senser and both selonoids in the trans. I have heard about a program update for the torq. converter to keep it locked in. Any suggestions?

Anyway, yes there is a flash update, at least for the 24Vs that they should install if the T/C is going in and out of lock-up. The other possibilit for a 24V is the bell-crank (throttle position sensor) about the only function that thing serves is when to go into O/D and T/C lock-up. If you have a 12V, my only guess would be the tranny program, but I don't know if it applies to those engines.
Sorry to bump up an old thread but I am haveing the same problem.

It is/was my Father in laws truck and was doing this just before he died. He had the dodge place check it but they did not find a problem.

take a look at all the grounding wires and the main ground. if there is any corrosion it will cause this.
I have been reading up about this and it is an issue that can lead to the need of a new wireing harness due to corrosion.
