RE: Starting issues 2006 2500
I have the same rig you have '06 2500 CTD and it normally starts after a second or two. A couple of times it did not, with all the electronic's on these new engines today I never run the starter that long (7 to 10 seconds), if it won't start within its normal time of a couple seconds, I shut the key off wait a couple seconds and it always starts on the second try.

Same issues here. It mainly happens when it is hot outside or after I've been towing my trailer around town. Let's see......so far I have had the loud thump when I hip bumps, the slow to start when warm and my radio cuts out when my stupid NEXTEL phone changes towers (the manual says this is normal). However, I love my truck! I wouldn't give it up for the world.

I too experienced some longer than expected crank times although they were so sporadic that I didn’t see a pattern as to temp, towing etc. The thing that caught my eye was the engine light. Again periodically it would come on (stay on after start) until I stopped, restarted, got to destination, etc.
Took it in, they downloaded (flashed) the fix and haven’t had any further probs. Mine started about 3K also and now at 8.5K with no reoccurrence.
