Default Front End Problems

My 01 CTD 4x4 is wearing the inside of the front passenger tire. It also started pulling hard to the right and the steering is getting sloppy. We also towed a new trailer about 800 miles this past weekend, and it has started to wander all of the road when towing. Could this all be caused by the trac bar going out? I have had nothign but bad luck with the front end of this truck. All of the ball joints have been replaced, the steering gear box has been replace, trac bar was replaced with a moog about 100k miles ago, and other misc suspension parts have also been replaced in the past.

Thanks,
Bob

Regarding you 01 with the front end problems, I had one and told my neighbours that when I met them on the road, not to report me for DWI!! I fixed all the troubles with some modifications from 'solidsteel.biz'. http://solidsteel.biz/

Check out the site, and give them a call. They are in Weyburn, Saskatchewan Canada.

Good luck.

That solidsteel fix looks pretty good! Does anyone know of any other companies with similar fixes out there?

PSC http://www.pscmotorsports.com/ sells the same steering gear brace, along with a beefed up steering gear. Definitely worth the money! They also carry the borgenson replacement intermediate shaft...for between the steering wheel and steering gear. It's much better than the stock shaft.

As far as track bar replacement, don't go with the one from solid steel...the 3rd gen adapter kit. From the reading I've done on the diesel truck forums, the 3rd gen trac bar fails just as quickly as the 2nd gen bar.

The best replacement that has been found so far has been this bar: http://thurenfabrication.com/stocktb.html

The steering stabilizer is a must. I crawled under the truck and my wife moved the steering wheel back and forth and there is play in the steering gear arm. The trac bar has play in it too.

I ordered my stabilizer today. I'll post how it works out when I get it installed next week.

I installed my stabilizer today in about 30 minutes. Took the truck out and my wondering problem I had has been virtually eleminated. I notice it a bit in town still, but on the highway it is all but gone. [sm=groupwave.gif]
Thanks to the guys that put the link in here!!! I wouldn't have ever found it otherwise.

Have you towed anything with it? My problem gets about 10 times worse when towing.
