Default Ram Cummins longevity

How do I get the most miles from a Ram Cummins?

I had a ’03 Ram 2500 Cummins 6 speed that I totaled a few weeks ago. I went left to miss a moose and ended up losing it on the left shoulder rolling the pickup. I had >110,000 miles on it. Seems like it was just getting broke in right. I’m going to miss that truck.

The only problem I had with it was universal joints. The dealer said they couldn’t put joints in with grease fittings. With my new truck I will get a set of joints with grease fittings and wait for the stock units to fail.

I switched to synthetic oil at about 80,000. Should have done that sooner. How often should I change it?

If you have any suggestions on how to get as many miles as possible out of an ’06 2500 Cummins 6 speed, please reply.

Thank you,
Doug

seemed like you were on the right track with your 03. . .may it rest im piece

anyhoo, the best way to check on your oil is to do sampling. this will tell you when certian elements are getting high, and another thing since you drive so much is to add a bypass filter. this will also help extend the life of the oil.

dont worry about when you switched though, that wont matter, but these things will help you protect your investment
