Default "95 Cummins won't start hot

My 95 2500 4x4 will occasionally not start after it has been running perfectly. It will start for a few seconds and then just die. If I let it cool down completely, it runs fine. Is the fuel overheating? I'm afraid to drive it anywhere for fear of being stuck. Any ideas?

Welcome to DF, I moved your post over to the diesel forum for more exposure.

my 1st thought is your fuel pump/lift pump is failing, i'm no expert on the older (or newer) CTD's so i'm sure someone here will add in shortly...

these trucks have a mechanical bellows type fuel pump located down on the engine drivers side. it was not untill the VP44 that you have the lift pump.

I would say that would be my first place to look. then I would check fuel lines and possably replace them.

Is it an easyish shade tree fix or will I have to refer it to a mechanic? Any opinions?

shouldnt be too bad. I would say about three bolts and the fuel lines and your done.

just make sure you install it right when putting it back in
