What oil for 99 3500?
What oil do you folks reccomend for a 99 5.9 5 speed Diesel. And what is the longhand of these acronyms I've been reading about? (psd/MM? and others.
Whats the best mods you guys have done for mileage and longevity on these trucks? Mine is a 99 3500 5 speed.
I am a former PowerStroke Owner--so take it easy on me----haha.

I'll be easy.
PS and MMO is an addative blend. PS is (no it's not power stroke
) Power Service. and MMO is Marvels Mystery Oil. most guys here are useing a 16oz PS and 8oz MMO mix for every tank. it increases the lubrication in the fuel, your VP44 injector pump will love you for that, and the higher cetane rateing will give you the same effect an octane booster gets for gassers. oh, it will also give you a gain in fuel mileage around 2mpg.
another thing to watch out for on your NV4500HD tranny is 5th gear might fall off. any tranny shop can fix it with a simple spot weld.
as far as oil, I have been useing Delo 400 15-40 and have been pleased with it. I am about to make the switch over the synthetic engine oil and am in desperate need to change the rest of my fluids
another good oil is Rotella T or if you want to spring for it which I am about to AMSoil 3000 15-40 which many I have talked to say is bar none the best oil for these engines.
