Default My CTD

Well I just went on a short 4700 miles trip from IA to Oregon and back and my over all average was 18.3 mpg. My lowest was 17 and my best was 20.28, all mpg mileage is hand calculated with an 1100+ Lb payload. I used drews mix every other tank.

I was very surprised with my CTD as no head wind slowed it down nor causes it to down shift even when my wife started up the continental divide in cruise control at 75 MPH. The best part of my trip was the looks people gave when they saw my wife in the drivers seat with a load to the top of the cab at 75 MPH, I call it priceless.

Is your CTD a manual or auto tranny? What was the mixture that you used? I recently put a "Tornado" in my '01 CTD long bed CTD 4x4 Auto and my milage went up 2 MPG.... so now I am averaging around 16 MPG and would like to see it go up a bit more.

Iv had good luck with the mixture of 4 oz Marvel and 16 oz Power Service.
On a recent trip to Utah and back, we covered 1800 miles and got a little better than 20 mpg.
Iv tried using straight Power Service but dont get as good a mileage as when I use the mix.

jagj52,

My 06 is 100% stock 4x4, auto, Quad Cab, short bed with 3.73 rearend. The Drew mix is 8 oz MMO and 16 oz PSD (gray bottle). Most people who use the Drew mix report from 1.5 to 2 mpg increase over not using it.
