Default A/C Acting Strange

O.K. strange but here's the deal. Went on a camping trip this weekend and given the fact that it was about 95 degrees I was using the A/C about two hours into the trip and the air stops blowing out of the vents. You can here the air flowing somewere but it's not going through any of the vents. Not the defrost, face, or feet. It's almost like one of the baffles has blocked all air flow. After fidleing with the controls I decided to just turn it off and use the windows. When we pulled of the highway and were cruising at a slower speed for awhile all of a sudden it came back. It's a 03' 2500 quad larmie, auto trans. Any ideas. Buy the way I'm the one with the gauge cluster that zeros out on occasion. Don't know if there related but thought it might be worth a mention. As far as the gauges dropping to zeros the dealerships keep telling me that they can't find any problems with it and that they can't seem to recreate it. My answer it to start replacing wiring or controlers until the problem goes away! Seems simple to me. Anyway any ideas on either issue?

Thanks

LJ

I'm not 100% sure on the diesels but on the 2nd gen gassers there is a vacuum line going to the inside of the cab that can develop a vacuum leak. go to the merry christmas thread at the top of this forum, click on the link and you'll find a link for your year manual on the left side of the page. download it and look at the section for the climate controls... I'll bet there is a vacuum line with a check valve that's starting to fail.

3rd gens use the same thing, a vacuum line, the vents will default to the defrost, but theres no telling what yours did
