Default 04 automatic

i have an 04 4x4 3500 with the 4.10 gearing (its an automatic). when it shifts into overdrive, it goes into gear hard. i have taken it to the dealer and they said that it is normal. they said what i am feeling is the torque converter locking up and then shifting into gear. ok. but, when i am pulling something, it goes into to gear HARD! i hear a loud bang when it goes into gear. they said this is normal too. i dont think i should be hearing any bangs or thuds when my truck shifts. what do you guys think?

mine did the same thing, like it was slamming it into gear, and just didn't feel or sound right. took it to the dealer and they said the same thing. but the programmed the computer to shift it once my speed was over 50mph. whwn I pulled a trailer it shifted nice, empty or loaded.

zach has it right, they just need to reprogram the computer to adjust the shift pints and when the TC locks up.
