just boughta dodge--have questions
hi guys.........i just bought a 92 with the cummins in it over the weekend.....first dodge i have had....have been using my ole trusty 84' 6.9 ford 4x4.........the wife finally let me upgrade.........so now i have a 92 new to me truck.................it has a couple of things that will need to be fixed.................the most pressing is a small fuel leak on the injector pump......it is where the shaft exits the pump where the throtle spring is located...................is this a dealer fix or just an o ring or something that i can do............also what were the things that i neeeeeeeeeed to watch for on this model truck.............i have always heard that the 5-speed is the weak link........is that true....i don't know if it has been turned up or not..............what are the posibilities without causing damage or egts that will cause problems...where do i look for information.....................inquiring mind neeeeeeeeeeeeeeds .........good ...........information..........joebuzz
hmmm. . .92. . .lemme pull from the back of my head. . .that has the Bosche VE pump. 160 horse 440 torque I believe.
I doubt the dealer would want to touch something this old and would probably try and talk you into tradeing it in. you might only have a fuel line that is loose, but if the pump itself is leaking I would say pull it off and rebuild it. better safe than sorry
the 5 speed is a mercedes 5 spd. it is ok as long as your not thrashing the thing, but it is a bit on the weak side. for more info check out TDR. there are guys on there that have some high horse 1st gens.
