Looking at a 98 Cummins 4x4 automatic, 24 valve. Mint condition. 67K original. What do I need to look for?
Any problems inherit with the 98's?

ask if the lift pump has ever been replaced, if it has ask if the VP44 injector pump has been tested to ensure it wasnt damaged. I would still have the lift pump checked to make sure it is pushing enough fuel to the pump to keep it from frying.

next, ask if it has any weird shifting problems. aparently there is a grounding issue that can crop up that makes the torque converter lock-up and unlock repeatedly.
