has anyone done or researched about anything for a swap of a 5.9 L diesel into a second gen 1500? Here in B.C. gas prices are shooting through the roof and diesel barley moves, and im wondering if its possible, and if it is what would be the best donor engine to use as far as years go? plus i wouldent mind the extra tourque to,, well,,, im sure i could think of something i could tow

there are recent posts about this very thing and from what i seen is that you would be better off selling the 1500 and buying a diesel...

cool, thanks for the advice. but im really stuck on the old 1500. what about converting the engine over to propane, does anyone know if that is worthwhile? right now our gas is at $1.16 per litre and propane is at $0.61 per litre. obviously that would be cheaper but i hear that u loose mpg and power by doing this

It is possible to put a diesel into a 1500, but you would have to change the entire frame because if you don't the amount of torque from the diesel would twist the stock frame of the 1500. So it may be possible but it wouldn't be cost effective; you might as well buy a stock diesel.
