The new muffler cannot be changed out with a regular one on most trucks. Most of the manufactures are going to inject raw fuel into the muffler to burn the deposites completely thus keeping the muffler from pluggin. This is just incase that the exhaust temp doesn't stay hot enough to already do so. Also the exhaust manifold turbo and pipe all the way to the muffler will be rapped in insulation.

How restrictive will this filter be? It seems to me this will hold the cummins back tremendously. If we are going to cleaner fuel what is the point in restricting air flow and adding another maintenance item, that I am sure wont be cheap.

Kind of the same type stuff they did in the mid 70s isn’t it.

well. . .even though the displacement is going up to 6.7L the power output is going to be roughly the same. the increase in displacement is to restore the longevity of the engines, even though the current 5.9's still last. all this EPA smog crap realy does a number on a engine and I guess DC and Cummins both felt there would be problems putting all this smog crap on the 5.9 and be able to maintain the current power levels, and keep the engine running a good long life.

I found some info on the 6.7 that I will start another thread for.

Don't worry about finding these mufflers on pickup trucks for another few years. These are going on big rigs and medium duty trucks in 2007 though which means we got 6 years max until they stick it to us.

Will there be any price change in the new bio diesel, or will it be roughly the same price as the old stuff.

Expect the new low sulfur diesel to cost about 3 to 5 cents more per gallon

so let me get this right.... we are switching to a fuel that the EPA is making the oil companies produce, that is cleaner but we have to use more of it to get where we're goin'? it will cost us more, and we'll have to buy more of it because our MPG's will drop. plus, we may need to purchase extra lubricants so our engines will last longer. is that about it?

It is either that, or buy a new truck. B.O.H.I.C.A.
