Default EGT's

OK,

So I was on my way out of town and dropped my the truck off to have some guages installed. (got a pretty good deal on 3 auto meter guages - pyro, trans, boost + A pillar $300). Instructions, lines, wires, & mounting hardware,- everything they needed. Well, my plane was late, missed my connection so I head back home, call the shop and they say I can pick it up this afternoon.

I get there and....

It took someone 7 hours to put in the boost and the pyro. Didnt even get to the trans temp?????

Worst of all they installed the pyro down wind of the turbo. I said (as did the instructions) between 5 & 6 on the exhuast man.

WTF!

So heres the question. What should I be adding in my head when I read this thing. Extra 1-200?

What's wrong with after the turbo, as long as it is within about 3-4 inches of the outlet. That's where we put them on big rigs, that's where I have mine. The main reason I put mine after the turbo was because I have seen a few break off and turn the turbo into a scrap pile. Not sure what it is suppose to read there, but the highest I've seen at stock setting was 850F towing going up hill.

the closer to the head, the better you'll know what's going on... you can go by the "add 200~300" deg to the temp but you also have a turbo between the probe and the head... I put mine near the collector, took me about 20~30 minutes to drill tap and install the probe.

there are plenty that put it after the turbo, putting it there you can see what the turbo is doing, but the reaction is slower. putting it in the exhaust manifold makes it react quicker, but you see what is comeing straight out of the cylinder.

after the turbo is generaly 2-300F less then what is comeing out of the cylinder.

Well so far the hottest I've seen was 500 so add the 2-3 makes it around 8. That sound about rite (unloaded)?

Others are sayin it could be as much as 4-500 dif between the two locals and that has been wieghing heavy on my mind (and foot). ??

It cools down pretty quick too. I got about 1-2 miles off the interstate at anywhere from 60-30mph by the time I pull in the drive and its at 2-300. If I let it sit (3-5 min.) it doesnt seem to get below 200 so I shut er down.
