Default my 2500 does not go.

can some one tell me somethings to watch out for on this truck. It's a 2000 2500 with 145000 on it. The last person that owened it looks like they took good care of it and every body tells me the motor will last forever. On thing that I have noticed is when you first start it and go their is no power the motors rpm goes up and the turbo is spooling but for the first five min it will not come out of a crall. The motor and every thing is fine but it like some one is starving it of air or somthing. I have also noticed that it seem to happen more under a half tank of gas.

I have a 2001 2500 deisel with 59000 miles on it and when it is cold it seems like the transmission wont shift into third but once it does it wont happen again till the next morning. other than that i love the truck and it pulls my 28 foot racecar trailer like it isn't even there.

Oneball, It sounds like you might have a MAP Sensor getting ready to go out on you. Mine started that way and got worse as time went by ( a few days). It acted like the turbo wasn't spooling up befor I replaced the Map sensor. Does your CEL come on? You can get the part at most any deisel shop and it is cheaper there that from the dealer, it is easy to replace, about 15 mim.

Hay thanks for the idea. My CEL light has not come on the weird thing is today it was 87 outside and the truck was sitting all day. When you go out side to go somewhere start the truck and drive for the first 5min if you push the gas you hear the motor rpm go up and the turbo spool but you don't go anywhere

Any excess smoke or anything?

Filters?

Fuel Pump?

I would start on the cheap side and replace the fuel and air filters. Might be an easy fix.

I checked my fuel filter today it is clean. The only thing that is weird is it happens when it is warm or like in the afternoon I would expect some sort of problem like this to happen in the morning. You would think that a deisel would hasve a running problem like this to happen when cold.
