Default number one deisel

how would 20 gallons of number 1. effect the cummins engine? beside mileage. wife and her family took MY TRUCK to iowa this week and put 20 gallons in and drove it until mt. then put number 2. I asked them to keep the recepts for me and document the mileage. she came home and i looked at the recepts and started calc milage it went 18, 19 and 16 I went what? then noticed the recept said number 1 fuel. wondering If should throw in some MMO to nurse the injector pump and lift pump back up?

thanks Dags

Being I live in North Iowa where did she get #1 this time of the year? I use 8 oz MMO and 10-16 oz PS in every tank for extra mpg and also do to the new ULSD[:@]

To answer your question get some PS and MMO in it ASAP just to be safe.

IMHO

DBLR the recept shows neola, IA. she went from superior WI to council bluffs. I've never even been on road trip like that in my truck, but I had to work so i missed out.
steve the mileage went down to 16. I figured she should get around 20 . becouse thats what i get at 69mph on a 2 and half hour road trip.. she was mt with 4 people and gear.

from past exp. coworker put 40 gallons of #1 fuel in a tandom axle dump truck, then i used it for 8 hours I noticed it was pinging like a mother. and had no power . three weeks later the injector pump took a crap. I was hoping the 40 gallons of #1 and combo of me beating the snot out of if didn't have any thing to do with it... but that wasn't my truck so I never checked into it. but now I'm worried, Dags

I might be wrong but isn't #1 just winter diesel with the anti-gelling stuff in it.

Dags,

Neola is about 25 miles North of Council Bluffs and I wounder being it is a small town, that they had forgot to changed the receipt from last winter. But it is possable they have/sell both #1 & #2 year round. I would still add 8 oz of MMO and 16 oz of PSD just to be safe. Why take a chance on any part of a $15,000.00 engine.

Spfs308,

To the best of my knowlage #1 does not have anti-gel in it. #1 has a lower cloud/gelling point this is why it is blended with #2 in the winter to lower the gelling point of #2. I have heard of some truck stops adding anti-gell in the winter to their fuel but it does not come that way from the tank farm.
