Door Lock Rattle
Just got my truck back from dealer after Oil change, Roll-over vent recall, and door panel replacement.
Original driver's door panel had "hole" in vinyl at corner where pull handle meets panel - dealer (bless their heart) replaced panel under warranty when they could see it wasn't my arm that put the hole in it.
QUESTION: Does anyone else have a slight "rattle" where the door lock pin comes up through the door panel? Didn't before, but don't want to go back to dealer if this common due to higher level of vibration the diesels have.
Noticed that dealer did check of water as SOP per TSB someone posted awhile back - that impressed me (in addition to a new door panel) too.
(Drew - this isn't the same dealer who gave me the story about the aircon)

DOORS DON'T RATTLE, if it wasn't like that before take it back It is something quite simple to repair, i'm sure while you wait, if something is loose from a broken clip or? it may fail at the most inconvient time.
only rattle I like is in my PAN!

Narrowed it down - not a clip or anything - it's just the door lock button that protrudes through the panel up top at the back - when it's down (locked) and the truck is hitting bumps, I can hear it tick or rattle - stops when I touch it so I know that's it.
I get nervous about going back for things like that - I was worried first time about the speaker developing a buzz or distortion after they tore into it, but it came out fine (able to crank up to 30 with trance music and it still sounds perfect) - so Murphy says if I take it back they'll stop the lock rattle but then the speaker will start...may just take it apart myself and see...

mmmmm. . .trance. . .Tiesto, George Acosta, got alot of their stuff. . .however right now I have a CD I burned that has, Pet Shop Boys, Flock of Seagulls, and Janes Addiction on it
COOL- If you can pull the door panel off a little, get a piece of foam rubber block, put a slice in it from side twards the middle, slide lock rod into foam slice and reinstall, door panel, making sure the foam is not to thick, you be the judge, and el fixo.
Drew - yup, I'm a closet music guy...used to be a director third ladder rung from the corp top, when one day picking up a colleague in a rental across the country, had something like Crystal Method bumping - and before I knew it the word was out! But managed to keep my job and I think some were entertained...
I saw in one of these forums where someone was trashing the Infinity stereos in these trucks - which amazed me since I can crank mine way up and do not get any distortion on music that you KNOW is going to show any if it's there...
Darrell (from my home town) - Thanks! That's great advice on how to do a simple fix that should cure the problem!
