CA emisions

RE: CA emisions
If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have even known I had a cat - always thought they were for gasoline only, and never looked up when crawling under the truck. Duh....
I do know that my CA '04 was a little less powerful than the 49-state '04's - but that difference was eliminated by '06 and now all are rated a little higher than the '04. The official response I got on the CA Emission is that that "option" covers the certification of "cleanliness" that California requires over other states...but I've been told a whole lot of things by dealers 'round these parts...(never had someone say a gas engine was a diesel though - that's a first for me!)

RE: CA emisions
In the first half of '04 - of course when I bought mine - the lower output was all you could get in CA while in Nevada (where my bro bought his the same day I bought mine) they could get the higher output. If I'd waited, or bought mine in the second half...
Let me dig up the info I have on the rating for the '06's compared to the second half '04's...

Steve - the early '04's had 460 ft. lbs. of torque unless you got one outside of CA - they had 555 ft. lbs. of torque - as did the later '04's in CA. Then in '05 and '06 (didn't mean to exclude the '05's earlier in the thread) they had 610 ft. lbs. of torque.
It's all about the TORQUE baby!
