Default intakes

I just bought a 2002 3/4 ton 4x4 6 spd and want to do some upgrades to help with fuel milage. Trying to decide which air intake system to go with based on value for money. Suggestions? K&N, AFE?
Thanks

welcome to DF...

the best mods i'd suggest for mpg would be a drop in filter, rottek timing sensor or a performance box set on the mpg setting.

most of the mods that really improve performance hurt mileage some. mainly due to RFS (right foot syndrom) have a look at my truck (click on camera on the left side of the screen)... look at my sig and the mods I have... I average consistantly between 14 & 15 mpg combined city/hiway. straight hiway will get me high 16's to low 17's.

hope this helps...

oh yeah, go to the top of the forum and look at the Drew Brew thread, it is good for 1~3 mpg consistantly.

so you think a BHAF would be better than an AFE or K&N system for milage, why is that? I am new to the modification stuff so any info helps. I do a pretty good job of keeping my foot out of it and am getting about 16.5-17 combined right now. Mostly drive in town and freeway(hour commute to and from work) and a little off road for hunting/fishing. The 4 in exhaust is coming in about 3 weeks, other than that the truck is pretty much stock except for the leveling kit and 35's
