how often are people out there draining their water seperation filter, and is it necessary to get a second or replacement aftermarket unit?

 

I change the fuel filter/ seperator every oil change (5000 miles) regardless of condition. I also drain the fuel filter housing and check for water every other tank, if there is any water at all, I change the filter/ seperator.

EDIT: Or are we talking about a coolant filter???
