I haven't really been following htis whole new diesel fuel too closely, however I guess I should huh?
How is it advertised?
What do I look for?
What was my old diesel fuel called?
Have you been hiding under a rock again? I think I rememebr the lable colors correctly. Normal fuel is LSD and the pump should have a black label telling you to not use it in 2007 model engines. The new fuel "ULSD" has a green lable on the pump saying it is OK to use in all 2007 diesel engines. The ULSD is the one that will drop your mpg by up to 3 mpg.

Now you can go back to your nap as school it out for now[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

LOL ... I guess I have !! I fear change, and therefore I put this whole thing on the back burner hopeing that it wouldn't happen and i wouldn't hafta think about it. The whole black / green thing throws me a bit as well since the pumps that I usually pull up to have always used green handles for diesel fuel. The LSD thing was the sicker though. LSD ..... I can remember LSD. ( LOL !!! )

LSD = Good for me

U = BOO !!!

Thanks for the explanation !!

ULSD should cause a 3% to 8% mileage decrease.[:@]

Here is my spec sheet

Maybe you can tell me which one I have. All I see it say is 5.9 600 cummins turbo diesel.

it would say on the side of the motor, there is a sticker that says 325 hp or 305 hp. if you see yours is a "600" motor then it is a 325 hp. the 600 is torque, so to clairify... the motors are:
305 hp/555 tq '03 thru '04.5
325 hp/600 tq '04.5 thru sometime in '05????
325 hp/610 tq '05 thru '06

I think that's right... [&:]

If I recall the offical report said 1% but I heard and or read an older report (from Cummins?) that it was 3% I did not save the links to it and they most likly have gone "404" page not found to keep up with the EPA part line[:'(]

Now in real life I have seen 2.5 mpg loss on my truck on it's first tank of it back in June, yet the tree huggers[sm=boosign.gif] [sm=icon_flaming.gif]out in on the left coast (not you steve) say a max of 1% maybe less.

So we will actually be burning more fuel creating more emissions than we did before.

Heya Steve!!

$2.68 here in Ely, $2.63 in Wells, NV, and $2.51 in Layton Utah at the Flying J (that's INCREASED since last week from $2.47). Since I go to Layton every week, I just try and do my fueling there. Might as well save something!

Also, began using the PSD White bottle and just read the Fuel Filter DIY thread from Drew. Looks like I got some minor work to do this week. Mileage isn't what I am thinking it should be.

Side note regarding fuel prices. For those of you who don't already know of it, go to:

http://www.gasbuddy.com

and select your state or Metro area. Contributors (like myself[sm=devilangel.gif]) post prices and the individual sites list them lowest first as well as highest.
