Default transfer case question

hey i'm woundering if its possible to add a t-case to a stock 2 wheel drive tranny..whats there to do?? and whats the difference betweeen 5.9 gas auto t-case and a 12 valve auto t -case thanks for all the input reallly appreciate it!!

You have two options on how to set it up. Either a divorced transfercase (d-line btween trans and t-case), or a mated transfercase in which you would have to get a 4wheel drive trans tail shaft. Either way you would need a crossmember and a shorten drive line. I believe the gasser t-case is a lighter duty compared to the diesel's.
