Fleet Guard oil filters, you will not have any problems with them and are Cummins approved.
Cummins approved filter from cummins

Well I paid the dealer 700 dollars to have unlimited oil changes, what kind of filter does the dealer install in the truck? I will take it tomorrow and get it changed. The 700 dollars is a good deal because i put anywhere from 5000-9000 miles a month on my truck, sometimes more.

I had mine changed at 10k at the dealer (for free ) the tech said that cummins uses a synthetic blend motor oil. I'm still gonna go with amsoil at 15k.

you guys thinking of switching to synth need to wait until about 25~30k. your mileage (economy) will continue to rise until about 20~25k when the rings are seated...

I made the switch to amsoil a couple of months back, Jason (Dieselnut) says I'm good for 15k with the filter & oil.

What exactly is the huge advantage to draging out your oil changes? Waiting that long would make me nervous. Just for piece of mind I'd rather switch it out more often than to drag it out and wish that I hadn't.

it's in the filtering. if you use a bypass filter it takes out the crunchy stuff that wears the motor down. the filter I have filters better then stock. I'm actually considering going to the bypass setup myself which would give me 20~25k change intervals.... 2x a year basiclly instead of 5~6x year. (avg 40k/year).

for greater peace of mind, do an oil analyisis on what you yank out to see whats what with your motor.
