Default SPEEDO-RACALIBRATE

I just bought 35's ( procoms) for my 2005 dodge 4 x 4 diesel on the stock 17"rims.
I also had a 2" levelingkit and new shocks installed to prevent any rubbing and it fits just perfect and looks good.
I came to find out that my speedometer is of quite a bit and it shifts quite different as well.
I went to 2 different dealers and asked them if they could re-calibate the speedometer but both told me that they can't do that. For some reason the computer does not let you make changes to the electronic settings.
Did anyone hear of this or is there another remedy what I can apply / use ? To me if feels like if I drive around for many miles like this, that it will do damge to the torque converter or tranny eventualy since its shifting strange. Its almost like driving in 3rd gear at 30mph when the truck starts humming.
I have the 4.10's with the 4 speed auto trans.
This only happened after I changed the tires from the stock to the 35's !!

Anyone ?

Thanks in advance

Mike

its crap... I had mine done for $50 bux by the dealer. go back and ask them why wont they do it, or go to the actual service manager.

Yep,

Same deal, $45-50 and done.

I've got 33"s on mine and the closest they could get was 295"s on my '06. I'm not sure about the '05 but when they programmed the (ECM) '06 they only put the tire sizes that they use on there vehicles.

Had to do mine twice. Fisrt time they set it to 315"s (Viper tires?) which actually put me about 5-6 mph under. Cool thing was at 77mph (aka 72) the rpms were about 1700. Didnt keep it there long enough to see what MPG impact was but truck ran just fine (3.73"s).

Changed over to 295"s (my size 305" was not in ECM) and speedo is like 1-2 off and rpms are pretty much right where I'd expect them to be at 72 (11900)

Another option would be to purchase the Superchip programmer. This will allow you to input your tire size to correct shift points and spedo. plus you also have the added power that you are missing now.

05's and earlier can be programmed by not only the dealer, but by a lot of shops with a programmer. To change it, they enter the revolutions per mile of the tire size. It's the 06's that can't be done that way - the computer changed to one that doesn't use the same language, and right now they only have the ability to change the tire size to one that is already programmed in as a choice. I have 35's, and used the largest tire size option, and am still off by about 6%...

You guys where right, but I ran out of patience with the dealer and I ended up getting the superlift chipset. I am going to install it next weekend. I am downloading the PDF instructions from the website and it seems pretty clear.
I will keep you guys posted on how it goes and many thanxx for the advice.
