Dont know if it would hardly be worth the $4000 it would probably cost.

FYI, All trucks made after Jan 01, 2007 will have the 6.7 and the 68RE trans will also be available in the trucks, It will be called a 2007.5 model. Many dealers don't want to be stuck with old 5.9's so they are telling you this BS so you will buy now and not wait for the new 6.7 and 68 RE six speed. And there are a few who just plain don't know what is going for some odd reason.

Hey all you potential 6.7 liter engine dodge purchasers...I have one and not sure it is a good thing until they get all the "bugs"worked out of it!!! We purchased our truck in Nov. 2006 with great anticipation because we have waited a long time to get a new truck and wanted one that would really do the job. At 3,000 miles the clutch went out and was told be the service department at our local dealer that we had "abused" the truck. We have driven manual transmissions all our lives and at 3,000 miles the truck had logged no towing time. So, we get it back after a week. Then at 6,500 it goes out again! Back to the shop again with the same comments. We did use it to pull a cattle trailer but no where near the 16,400 lbs. it is supposed to pull. So, we call the regional manager and was told by him and his superior that Dodge would no longerwarranty the transmission. We have a $35,000 investment and the company will not stand behing their product. They need to fix the problem or will they continue to "DODGE" it!!!

sounds more like an issue with the flywheel not being true.

Either that or those 4wh low, trailer hauling launchers at the drap strip.......j/k

That would be funny to see though....A dodge hauling a trailer full of cattle running 13s on a drap strip....hehehehehhe

Sberry, there was someone on another site that claimed to be from the manufacturer of the clutch. He stated that there is a known problem with the dual mass flywheel especially in the new 6.7 trucks. I don't know if this site would like me posting another sites url so PM me and I will direct you to the thread.

I note that the compression ratio has increased
from 16.3 of the older 5.9 ISB
to 17.2 on the 6.7
that is an attempt to win back some fuel economy
that will be lost to the longer stroke and its higher piston speed.

Also, the Aisin 6 speeds overdrive ratio of .625 is also lower
to try to keep piston speed down at highway cruise speed.
Let us hope the Aisin automatic transmission's internal parts are strong and durable under high torque loads in the 1200-1800 rpm range. This is where the older 47 and 48 series automatics had trouble.

But with the heavy use of cooled EGR,
peak pressures and temperatures inside the combustion chamber will be down and I am afraid fuel economy is almost bound to suffer compared to the older 5.9 I6 engines....especially compared to the 'optimum' 1998 12 Valve Cummins that seems to hold the MPG Championship status for now.

It would be a public service to their fellow Ram owners if someone with a new 6.7 Cummins Ram would go on a trip with a earlier model 5.9 Cummins Ram and compare MPG.

Please don't take any of this as knocking Cummins.
I have been a big Cummins supporter for more than 30 years,
I knew the ex-CEO of Cummins Bill Henderson
and went to school with his niece and nephew.

It is just that the new super-tough NOx pollution regs are really hard for a diesel engine to meet, and fuel economy looks like it will suffer.

Hank. . .the compression of the HPCR engines has been 17.2 since 03 for the HO engines.

as far as fuel economy, early reports are around 13-15mpg, but I say that is on par since the engines are not broken in yet, and the fuel economy champ is actualy a tie between the 98 12 valve and the 04 305/555 engines that can consistanly get above 20mpg.
