Default towing your first load

In the owners manual it said that for the first 500 mile that you tow you should no go over 50 mph. what is the purpose of this. And will it hurt to pull a 5000 lbs trailer for about 400 miles at speeds of 60 to 65 mph.

the first 500 is to help the bearings seat and you can generaly tell if something is going to be wrong with the truck in those first 500 miles, after that drive it like you stole it. . .even if there is a trailer behind it.

Default RE: towing your first load

When I went and got my truck (I had a dealer locate it). I drove with my 1/2 ton pulling a car trailer from south Mississippi to north Atlanta Ga. I paid for the truck, Hooked the trailer to the Dodge then put the 1/2 ton on it, I pulled it at 72 mph all the way. I had no problems, And I found out what power was all about. The truck never kicked out of O/D, Not even going threw Birmingham Al, (alott of big hills).
