Default "Hot Shot" delivery question

I have found my self in between jobs (last job I had a conflict of personalities with the owner) and to keep up some sort of cash flow while the head hunter is doing his thing I have looked at contract delivery Nobel Logistics specifically. Can any of you give me any advice on the tru cost of operating these trucks other than fuel cost. and how much is enough to make it worth the time and wear and tear on the truck. I don't want to pay to drive and I think that some companies dont truley cover the cost of the operation.

I have a 2003 2500 long bed auto if that helps.

Thanks I know youall are an experienced bunch, my expertiese is in Land Surveying.

to tell you the truith, if you plan on hot shotting a 3500 dually would be best since your not real sure how heavy some of the loads may be and you dont want the fuzz on your butt yanking out the scales.

asside from that it can be profitable as long as you keep the wheels a turnin. some places pay over a full buck a mile, or more, and that is mainly because your useing your own vehicle, paying for your own fuel, insurance and what not.

if you want the real up-and-up about hot shotting head over to Diesel Ram and PM a guy named Watersedge. he does hot shotting full time and has a few dodges with some seriously high miles.

Thanks, 3500 is not an option at this time have to play with the toy I have. At the tome of purchase I just needed a Boat dragger, 3000 lbs or so, this truck was just the ticket. It has the factory tow package, what is the max I can tow without a fith wheel hitch installed. I see a rateing on the ball atchment of 500/5000 is that all the reciever is capable of or will a more robust part up that.

as long as you have a weight distribution hitch you can plant up to the GVWR onto the truck, just dont go over GCVWR and get cought.

anyway, Ive seen 2500's roll across the scales at big truck stops yanking well over 26,001# which is the limit requireing a CDL.

Get better transport done with hot shot trucking by citizenshipper. They offer reverse style auction on your shipment that ultimately drives down the price at minimum.

Make sure you've got sufficient insurance to cover you and whatever it is you're towing...

The 500/5000 is the factory hitch rating for load carrying. Seems really low though. Should be closer to 1000/10000 I would think. I ran the scales with a 24' enclosed trailer at about 23-24k and they didn't bat an eye.
