I'm thinking of buying a Jake Brake exhaust brake for my truck. I wanted to know how difficult the install was. I fancy myself handy with a wrench and can follow a simple schematic. Any one done it already? Have any advice?
I'm thinking Jacobs E-Brake. They are covered under Dodge and Cummins warranty. I know it entails adding a vaccum pump and a new belt, and I guess a few wires.
I would get one that was air activated. Then you would have an onboard air system to inflate tires and such. As for the install, they are pretty easy all though I have never done one that was just bolt on (welding and cutting was always involved). So I would allow for a weekend to complete it.
can you get one for the 1st gen cummins?? i've got a 92 and would like to add a jakebrake but i don't know where to look the ones in summit are for the newer trucks.
