How many fuel pumps has your truck had?
Only 1 lift pump since new. And I replaced it at 150,000. Still worked fine, just thought it had done a lot of time. Took it apart and there wasn't much wear. I bet she had a few hundred thousand more left to go.

Brent - one of the resident experts can probably do a better explanation, but I believe the Lift pump is what gets the fuel from the tank to the engine, while the Injection pump is what supplies the injectors with the high pressure supply needed to get the fuel atomized. Diesel is a lot heavier than gas - which presents problems in addition to needing that higher pressure. The problem that Dodge acknowledged when they changed the design was with the Lift pump more than the Injection pump...

Ok, thanks for the explanations. What is a ballpark figure for the cost of these pumps should they fail down the road? I am asking about the cost of Factory replacements if one went that route.
