rough cold start
Cam sensor is about $170 and they go out often (usually owners keep an extra on hand) there is a relay for the glow plugs in the valley, check that out and see if its working. Then take an amp clamp and measure the amps going to each bank (all glow plug wires) have some one turn the key on and measure it. Should be 35-60 amps on each bank which mean the glowplugs are fine. (check for white smoke no white smoke means glow plugs are good and the problem is probably the cam sensor)
go to www.powerstroke.org ... a buddy of mine "maintain" is a moderator there.. he has a 2001 f250 platnium edition with the 7.3.. he could tell you everything you need to know inside and out of a 7.3
Update- so far. truck doesn't fit in the garage and been real cold here and getting home in the dark doesn't help. He cleaned the terminals as he read that could cause the long starting nd also we learned if you have an amplifier in the truck- if it turns on before the truck starts it robs a huge amount of power. We never thought of that. But still didn't work. He's gonna pull it apart this weekend.
I checked on that injector strategy that cycles the injectors after key off. It's only for the 6.0 and the get the oil out because the injector pistons were seizing in their bores. Any update hunterhugh???
