it's on the dash light circuit... if you pull off your bezel you'll see the harness tacked up right behind it, it's an empty plug. one of those is on your light circuit.

well after some research, the frame rail under the cab is really the only spot to put it. up front under the air filter is not enough room to get a drill in there w/o tearing apart the front end. [:@] this install should only take about 1~2 hours max once everything is figured out...

that looks like a good spot, is that on a 3rd gen? for some reason, I dont think I have the room there, I'll have to take a look tomorrow.

BTW, bypass install ran into a technical difficulty and is on hold until resolved...

the filter is so long that it sticks down below the frame... too much for my liking...

anyways, i'm open to suggestions...
Can you turn it sideways, or would that be too much of a mess when maintaining it ??

mayfair's got a point . Sideways will work. But changing the filter is a possible messy adventure.

Well, your gonna have a drain pan under it anyway. It'll be messier for sure, but how much messier ??

Here's my stupid question of the day though ...

ready ...

Do you run the possibility of syphoning the oil from your pan by having the bypass filter located either at or below the oil pan?

No, I've got it mounted on the tranny cross member way down low. And the syphon effect doesn't seem to come into play.

sidewas was an option, however not the ideal setup... I decided on the frame mount with the filter dropped below the frame. not the best spot but I think it'll be ok for the type of wheeling I do. I dont go crawling over rocks or anything like that, the worst my truck sees are moderatly steep trails with loose rock. I might have to build a shield for it depending on what the exposure is for potential rocks being kicked up into it.
