Default how hot does diesel exhaust PIPE get

I am in the process of fabbing up a crossover box for my stacks. The question I have is how hot should I expect the pipes to get assuming max pyro temp pre turbo of 1300. I will have 4" pipe from turbo out to crossover box, then 2 5" stacks off that. My crossover is 4" tall x 6" wide. There will be about 3" ofclearance between the fuel tank and the crossover box. Should I be concerned ? I was thinking bout a heat sheild to help some, but another concern I have is the paint on the bed. I assume you guys usually bolt these to the floor right ? does the paint, or spray liner get messed up? If all goes well I will have the 2 5" stacks in the bed and still be able to haul 4x8 sheets of whatever without the crossover bein in the way.
