Best Mods for Maximum MPG
cowboy, you are right, the lower settings of the edge box are pressure only, setting #3 I believe advances the timeing a bit. your best power will come from adding in timeing and duration, it is not untill you get to high HP settings where you need pressure to keep the rail from running dry.
it is also proven that advanceing the timeing by about 2 degrees increases mileage and low end torque. check out the Rokkteck crank sensor, it is a factory crank sensor with an adjustable slider to advance the timeing to two degrees.

IIRC he is better off with a bit more timeing and not more fuel pressure. Hell the rail is already runing up their at a very high PSI right now and adding more is not good for the fuel system.
I have a 2001 quad cab cummins 2wd, I put the hypertech programmer on it and that added between 3-4 mpg better on stage 3, I also put 4" straight pipe from the turbo back on it which added 1-2 mpg better and lowered the egt's a ton, the only other thing i did was take that clip ring outta the turbo making it spool a little faster and added a couple horses not much though.
that silencer ring does not add any HP or forces the turbo to spool quicker. . .all it does it smooth out the turbulance at the turbo to quiet it down. removal of this ring opens up the area it covers which causes this turbulance that makes the turbo louder.
Hi Drew,
Do you think removing the silencer vane section of pipe between the airbox and turbo and replacing it with a strait pipe will let a little more air through or not?
