Default 24v fuel pressure check

I've been reading fuel mileages to see where everyone else is at. Mine is around 12-13 hand calc. I run an 05 quad cab stock everything. Stock air filter (style I mean, not original), have almost 60K miles on it. I have been using Drews Brew for about 10 tanks now. It's my first diesel so I am probably a little heavy on the pedal but I thought I would be doing better than that. Mostly drive empty, but sometimes pull a construction cargo trailer about 2500 to 3000 lbs.

I came across the mention of fuel pressure and that it could be checked w/ a pressure gauge and possibly adjusted.

Can anyone give me more info on this since I would like to check it myself and adjust it if I can?

what this is mainly refering to are the older 24 valves with the VP44 pump. if the lift pump went out on these pumps you can kiss them good bye. the CP3 on the newer common rails are able to stand up to a dead lift pump.

my question would be when was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

I have a Hastings fuel filter on order along with an Airraid drop-in filter. I modded the airbox just like the Cool Power mod for a fraction of the price but am still running a regular paper filter.

I hope the new filters will help
