Default Soooo, the truck went in today

Well, I went into the dealership to meet with the Distict Rep. Nice guy by the way.

First thing he says, after several appologies about the whole thing, "What do we need to do to make this right? Do you want a new truck or do you want us to buy it back?"

So, I told him, "Honestly, I just want MY truck working" He looked a little surprised.

We talked for about 10 more minutes about the things I liked and didn't like about the truck.

Came down to this, "If you want a new one or if you want it repurchased, you ar fully entitled to it. If you want to give us one final opportunity to correct it, here is what I can do. If we are unable to correct the problems and any of the sympoms come up again, call me directly (gave me his business card) and I'll have the truck replaced that day."

Sooooo, I wasn't dissapointed. He obviously wasn't dissappointed.

I've already had them give me a 100K bumper to bumper on this truck and all scheduled maint, soooooooo, we'll see.

The truck is in right now, I called before I left work. they are replacing the TIPCM, the entire wiring harness, batt temp sensors, intake air temp sensors andcoolant temp sensors.

So I'll either have my truck back in working order or I'll have a new one. Either way I get what I want.....a working truck.

This truck only has 9600 miles on it. It's setup exactly how I want. It has what I want and nothing I don't.

It's just barely at the point of getting broken in. A new one would mean goign through the break in crap for another 10K and maybe, just maybe, having another hassle.

It was actually running very good, jsut had a CEL on.

We'll see when it comes out.

Like I said before......I do actually like my truck. I just want it working and reliable.

I liked the fact that he had a copy of the entire packet I had sent in, so he was obviously familiar with what was going on. He didn't try to BS me (that would have put me though the roof). He was jsut straight forward and leftthe ballpretty much in my court.

To me that is taking care of your customer. Even though it took having to go this route, once it got to his attention he was willing to make right with the customer. That's good business.

Next to having a rock solid, 100% reliable vehicle, that is THE most important aspect of working with someone. Treat me right, I'm happy, I'll talk good about you. Do me wrong......I got yo' azzz Mista Postman.

I really hope you are not going down the same road as him. He has been through everything twice, and he should be the last one. You better hope it is just a loose censor or something.

Yeah, I saw you were having some issues. Believe me, it isfrustrating and aggravating process. Feel free to PM or e-mail me. I'll be glad to give you the stuff I have.

The very first thing I suggest you do is get very familiar with your states lemon laws. They vary greatly from state to state, so what worked for me, may not necessarilly work for you.

1 - Document, record, write down everything. I mean phone calls, stops in to have CEL looked at, maint records.....EVERYTHING.

2- Contact your states Office of Consumer Affairs, your local BBB, and your area Chamber of Commerce. They should be able to provide you with the correct information and a sample packet of what everything looks like.

3- If you find that you meet the requirements of your states lemon laws, proceed if needed.

Just remember that there is a time for complete and total lunacy and there are times to be collected, but firm. If it isn't right, make it painful.

I've gone as far as parking my truck sideways in front of their service bays so that they couldn't bring any vehicles in. I tied up their service department for over 2 hours one time. Told them it wasn't moving until I saw every manager, the owner and all their brothers.

Just click on my user name and go back through my posts; they are pretty easy to find.

Just so you know my level of frustration. I've had:

1 - strange vibration between 1600 - 1800 RPM's
2- new torque converter
3- new tranny cooler lines (3 times)
4- new tranny cross member ( they mangled the first one getting it out)
5 - Coolant leaks from upper and lower radiator hoses
6- real main seal went out (this was when I parked the truck in front of the service bays)
7- new CTD, tranny, and transfer case.
8- new injector
9- new injection pump
10- numerous CEL (all related to the sensors and the TIPCM not taking flashes)

So after this, the entire driveline, powertrain controls, and wiring will be completely redone. Total of 15 visists to the dealer.

You know what really t's me off? The thing runs like a champ when the CEL is on. Go figure.[:@]

Thanks for the info. Ido have another question what would cause the battery to go bad? I have only had the truck since June. Though the last time I went camping I forgot to unplug my 5th from the truck the fist day and I was running the generator could that have toasted my battery?
