Default Howl from somewhere

Since it has been cold here in MN (below 20 for highs) I have noticed a howl type noise that appears to be coming from either the tranny or rear end between 20 and 40 mph. It's not a constant noise between those speeds, it depends on how fast I am accelerating. By that Imean, getting up to speed in my development, not racing some yahoo nextto me. I also hear it if I left off the go pedal and it's coming down in speed. The longer I drive, it seems to go away (fluids warm up?). I have 24,500 miles on it right now. At 30K I was planning on replacing all the fluids with synthetic.

I am going to try and get audio of it in the next few days, but just wanted to see y'alls thoughts on this.

Thanks,

It has been 30 for the high here in houston, texas. This is cold enough, your truck is probably mad at you for making it get up and go through all that.

That's what I am hoping. For about a week it's been -10 or so for the low and around 10 above for the high. Windchill is about 0 to -5. Today we broke into the 20's though.

I'm usually not all that thrilled with getting up and going either....stupid work.

I had a Mazda truck back in the day before I knew what a real truck was. Anyway it had a howl from the rear turned out to be the rear axle bearings.
