Default if you have a SRT hood .......

I have another shared installation......

When it snows, I can really see that the heat from the engine is making the hood hot. Snow sticks every where except the hood.

So, I installed some Dynamat Xtreme with some Dynaliner over the top of it. I'd say it helped a little in keeping down engine noise ( not much ) and it definitely helped keep the hood a little cooler. Snow it sticking to it now.

I have to say... if my truck wasn't brand new I'd take out the entire interior and line the cab with this stuff. It's very easy to work with and makes a huge difference in road noise and the way your sound system sounds. I did it in my last truck.

What I did was to take a large piece of paper and traced the hood area's I wanted to covers. Then I transfered that to the Dynamat's and cut them to fit. It took me about an hour to do and that was taken my sweet time.

To top finish it off, I'll be installing a hood blanket like pictured. It's not cheap at all since it's qulited by hand but, will last the life of the truck because of the quality built into it... It will keep the engine noise and heat in check. It won't have the same writing on it though.

Looks nice as well as your truck. That has to be one of the best looking trucks I have seen. My truck came with a fire blanket. Did you pull yours off? If not my whole hood is covered from front to back.

Thanks. Yes, my stock hood came with the heat shield but, it doesn't fit the SRT hood very well. I tried to custom fit it but, it looked like crap so off it went.

The Dynamat Xtreme is a 1/4" thick sheet of tar for lack of a better term. The back is expose with a sticky surface and the front is covered in aluminum.

The Dynaliner is a 1/4" thick piece of dence foam with a sticky backing.

I bought my hood and bumper from them direct and got it for the e-bay price. I called them direct. They are a Dodge dealer. I'll try and find the phone number but you can e-mail them

That's a good deal but, it still needs painting. A correct job will run $300 to $400 depending on your paint color ( PPG isn't cheap ) then you're looking at shipping which puts you right at the price these hoods sell for painted.

There's always a deal somewhere though ;-)

Thanks to both of you. Looks like I will have to have it painted. They did not have my color. Is all you do is remove your grill and put it on the SRT hood?
