Default 05 turbo problems

I have an 05 ctd dually. It eats 5 qts of oil every 1000 miles but only has 8800miles on it. Good power, etc. Clean oil too. How do you see if the turbo has a problem without taking it to the dealer.

low to no boost and oil comeing from the exhaust. . .personaly I would first look at the outlet of the turbo and make sure there isnt any oil comeing from the compressor side. . .if no oil in the intake I would start looking for loose connections.

have you noticed excessive blue smoke from the exhaust???

Sounds stupid, but have you checked under the truck for leaks? Are you getting any blow by?
