Default JR gets to drive the CTD...

Well Jr has had his permit for a couple of weeks now and he's be tossed behind the wheel of my truck, his sisters honda (5 sp) and the wifes corolla... He is intimidated by the size of the truck but handles it well. One of these days we're going to head out to folsom lake so he can wheel it some. That should be fun...

My father taught me on a 77' Ford F-350. Had a 4 speed, and a 460 transmission.

My father said one thing to me........." Get in and drive. If you stall, I'll breaks both your legs." (My hand to God)...lol.

No disrespect to anyone's kid but, the youth of todayare the worst driver I have ever seen. They drive these compact cars and never learnto respect the vehicle itself.

All kids should do200 hrs, in a controlled enviornment. Teach them stoping, starting, braking, AND parallel parking...LOL.

Not NY state, pass a 20 question test and out the door you go with the "privilegeto drive"......lol. Not the physical capability to control the car, but hey, that's not important anymore.

I think you should teach him exclusively in the Ram. Set up some cones in a Sears parking lot, and run him thru the paces. Then the smaller cars aresecond nature.

Maybe I should just stop typing instead.LOL.

Good luck to ALL our rides!

I was taught how to drive in my mom's ford explorer. but the holy grail was pops 1993 Ford f150 rcsb xlt lariat 4x4 with the 300 I6 and a 5 speed overdrive tranny. When I got my license pops handed me the keys and said she's urs take good care of her. He bought a jeep wrangler that he wanted and he knew how much i loved that truck so he let me take it. My god did i love that truck. Then after about six months on a nasty rainy day I came around a corner at aobut 25 mph in 2nd gear when i came out of the turn i gave it gas to get going since it was like turn then up a hill. The back end fishtailed and caught the bank on the side of road at somehow the right spot and the truck flopped over onto the roof. I was fine and the truck wasn't too bad. another 25 yards up the road and i just woulda ran off the road shook it off and got back on the road learned my lesson. but instead I lost my beloved truck. Not even going to lie i'm almost crying right now thnking about that truck. i loved taht truck so much. loved it like it was my own child. I still have the window sticker, keys, and shift **** that I keep in my room to remind me of it. There hasn't been a day that goes by that I don't think about it. and it's been over a year and a half now since it happened.

he needs to complete 50 hours of behind the wheel with a permit 1st before he can geta license... All of the kids got to learn in the ram(s) one way or another. all of them also will know how to drive a 5 speed.

I agree that there are alot of teen drivers who have not been taught to drive... I see it every day. I blame the parents for not taking the responsibilty to ensure they know what they are doing behind the wheel...

Lorie's been itching to get behind the wheel of both my trucks. . . only problem is the yoda is a 5spd with a tempremental 1st gear(I think the pilot bearing is going out) and the ram with the long throw 6spd that wont choke out even when starting in 3rd and she's never been tought how to drive a stick.

the worst thing we have around the Atl, are the teenage ricers in their civics trying to play the whole fast and the furious thingnext toa truck that weighs in at close to 7500 pounds that can match the acceleration of a blown rousch mustang
