Default Cain't waite anymore-Gotta have a DODGE

[]Can't wait anymore I just gotta have a CTD. Due to finances I may have to buy an 2003 with 80-100000 miles on it. What is the major differance between the 03 and 04-05s quad cabs. Did the 03s have any major problems that I should be aware of. What would be the first modification or adjustments I should do besides stacks and air-intake? Yeh, gotta have the quad cab for the kids!

in all reality, there are very few differences between the 03's and 04's compared to the 04.5's and up. it is mostly engine design and a few internal additions for cooling, however the 03 and yearly 04 HPCR engines are still stout.

the only thing I can think of with the 03's is there was an issue with the 48RE tranny and the thrust washer in the planetary pack was the wrong part. DC fixed this issue, however I have yet to hear of any failures with the 03 48RE's.

as far as mods, well. . .intake is a good one to help the turbo breathe easier, removal of the stock muffler helps alot with lowering EGT's, and if you get enough power, you will need to upgrade the exhaust from the 3.5" to a full 4 inch like the 04.5's and up have.

Was the 4.5's the first to get a 4 inch exhaust? When I went to get my aero 4040 installed, the shop said I already had a full 4 inch exhaust and only needed the aero turbin muffler to replace my stock one. I am wondering now.....and mine is the 2004 not the 2004.5 because i have the 305/555 cummins.
