Default Black Sunshine (Diesel Smoke)

Everyone knows the 3rd Gen diesels don't blow any smoke, but I have seen several of them out there that have been modified (no stacks) and blow lots of smoke. I'm one of those guys that a diesel is supposed to stink, be loud, and blow lots of black smoke. Who out there knows what you can do to make it smoke. I have a 4" MBRP turbo-back exhaust and still no smoke. I'm sure there is a cheap "fix" to this.

I'd say they have been modified and have added a performance module, TST, Edge or some of the Bully Dog parts.

No box or programmer and you get very little smoke on the 3rd gen's. Even under heavy throttle, the stock fuel curve is pretty conservative.

Throw a box or programmer on it and you'll get decent smoke out of it. But, you also get high EGT's in the process.

Drew with his TST can smoke like friggin coal factory.

My Edge Juice will produce smoke, but not that radical like you see in the truck drags or sled pulls, it jsut won't feed enough fuel. It doesn't start dumping fuel until you get up around 10 psi of boost.

If you wanna blow big smoke in a 3rd gen, you're gonna need to add bigger injectors and a TST box. That'll give you enough low boost fueling to bring the "Black Clouds of Diesel Death" upon the world.
