A few questions about the edge...
I'm looking at getting the Edge Juice with Attitude and I have a few questions before dropping the coin...
1- Will the stock tranny handle the extra power?
2- Do I need to mount probes for all the "guages" or do they get their info from the ECM?
3- Do I need to upgrade anything else along with it? (turbo, injectors, etc)
4- Will it stack with the Diablo Sport Power Puck?
I noticed it has anti-slip safety for the tranny, will that protect the tranny under heavy power or do I still need to go easy on it?
I have already upgraded the air filter to a BHAF and the exhaust stops after the cat/resonator. I don't want to seriously drag race it, but bending a ricer over my knee every once in a while and blowing black clouds of diesel death would be nice. I mostly use it for 4x4 and daily driving and I figured this is a good way to up the power a little and get all the "guages" I need. Any info would be appreciated.

1 - The stock tranny is okay up through level 3 (70 hp / 150 tq). After that, you are gonna want to upgrade at least the torque converter.
2 - The only other probe that you "must" mount is the EGT probe. Everything else it gets from the TIPCM. Some folks suggest getting the tranny line mounted probe for the temp, but as of yet I haven't seen my temps go over 180.
3 - You don't need any other upgrades with it. With yours being an '01, you may want to look atan upgrade VP44 as the Juice does use some fuel pressure mod's to achieve power. Nothing significant, but may want to.
4 - I wouldn't suggest stacking it with a stock tranny and turbo setup. It will already make enough power to stress your stock tranny and fuel system.
On mine, I jsut have the K&N drop in filter and I add and Aero 4040XL and Diamon Eye muffler and my EGT's at cruising speed dropped around 100* and I can now push my level 3/5 without bouncing off the EGT limiter on the Attitude.

a 2001 make power alot different than the 03 and later HPCR engines. granted it is still an electronic engine when it comes to some of the fueling, the injectors are still the mechanical jerk style. the edge box for the 01 engines will do mostly boost fooling and added timeing to achieve power.
if your wanting more power you may need to look into upgrading your injectors first to some 50hp injectors and a better turbo. and also get that 47RE tightend up with a new valve body. you'll realize it in the long run when you have the supporting tranny mods to handle the extra power.

Thanks Drew, any suggestions on the turbo or injectors?
Also, the Diablo website claims 50hp/150tq. Will I really notice the extra 20hp or would it be better to go with injectors and keep the diablo puck?

For the EGT probe...try this link: https://dodgeforum.com/m_710666/tm.htmDown around post #15 is where the pics are at.
For the tranny protection. It is basically setup so that if it detects slip when the TC is locked, it defuels and limits boost to stop the slip. It does the same thing with fuel if the EGT or boost get s too high.
For engine protection, it does not add fuel or timing if the coolant temp is below 140*. Then is progressively adds power until the coolant is up to 170*, then you get full power.
As for the settings, mine has the 6 power levels (0-5). 0 being stock and 5 being max. The other number is the responsiveness (i.e. smoke output and torque management). What this does is determine when it starts fueling under low boost conditions.
So 1/1 would be....power level 1 w/ responsiveness of 1. 3/5 would be......power level 3 w/ responsiveness of 5 (decent smoke, but not much). If I do put it on 5/5 and stand on the brakes and get to about 1600 - 1800 rpms, I get pretty decent smoke production, but EGT's come up quick. You are getting a lot of fuel, but not much air as teh turbo is under low boost conditions. Diesel w/o air makes excessive heat. You have to figure that for every lb of boost, you can cool your EGT's by about 10 degrees. So, at 21 psi of boost, you can effectively lower your EGT's by 210*. I have mine limited to 42 psi and the alarm goes off at 38.
