Hey Guys, I have been watching in the shadows and learning a whole bunch! I just purchased a 2004.5 DR 3500 4X4 and am looking to change all of the fluids. I am specifically interested in what kind of fluid those of you who have the NV 5600 use. This is what I have and I am considering Amsoil, but not sold on it just yet. What do you use and how has it seemed to run for you.
Here are the pics, to save ya all asking!![Big Grin](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

this is what you need right here,9.5 pints(4.5 quarts)of the stuff will do you just right. I went ahead and put in 5 quarts. . .the extra wont hurt, but dont over fill it much past that.

I changed to this stuff after 30K, within a few miles I could tell a HUGE difference in shifting. things got easier and smoother, but tyour results may vary, the NV5600 trans can be VERY picky and no two are alike. but this is the oil you need. . .it even says on the back of the bottle engineered for the NV5600

Seems crazy not to use the full synthetic that Dodge dealers sell.
To save money bring your own container and buy from a dealer who will sell it from the bulk tank.
GM dealers stock the same fluid since New Venture Gear Inc used to be a joint project between GM and Chrysler.
Amsoil hasn't done 100,000 miles of testing of their gear lube in a 5600.
Both GM and Chrysler have done that and more.

You are Joking are you not Hank? And just which brand of gear oil is it they will be selling to you? The brand they use for warranty work or the brand they buy to use in all other oil changes?
My local dealer has told me they have to use Mobil oil for warranty work and for all others they use Rotella. So which one of these companies has gear oil or even engine oil that is better then either Amsoil, Redline or even middle of the road Royal Purple or Schaeffer’s brand of synthetic oils? Most of us all ready know the answer, neither one!
