Default Help!!!!!! 02 CTD Loses power

My 02 all of a sudden acts almost like it loses fuel. i will be driving down the road and get in the throttle about halfway and the turbo quits spooling and has no power. if i let off of it and get back in it it seems to act fine. i have changed the fuel filter and checked the psi coming from the lift pump. it is at 12 psi during idle and when i hit the throttle it drops to 11 and then goes right back to 12. My chip is gettin an injection pump timing failure code. It will go days and sometimes weeks without doing it and all of a sudden it will do it a few times then run fine. Does anyone have any input or ideas. the truck has 96k on it and im about to take it back to the dealership but yall know how that goes if I can avoid that it would be great.

Thanks in advance

Hate to say it, but to me that sounds like the injection pump is going out on you.

If the pressure from the lift pump is only dropping 1 PSI when you are on the throttle, it sounds like the VP44 isn't pulling anything.

Get the pressure checked coming off the injection pump, I bet it's needing a rebuild / replace.

my thoughts exactly. any time you get a timeing failure on a VP44 it is not good. you could go to the dealer and have them fix it for an arm, leg, and your first born, or take it to a good diesel shop and have them put a new one on for half the price.

well I will probably go to the dealer cause I still got 3 or 4 k of warranty left. I was always told that the lift pump going out is what usally causes the injector pump th crap out..

Beware, that the dealer might try to weasel out of doing any warranty work because of your mods.
