if that bad boy has reverse next to 5th it wont be around long if someone has the cash and knows what they are looking at.

the only thing about the NV5600 that you may need to be warned about is there are no repair parts being made, and the ones that are out are becoming increaseingly rare and expensive, however if you use the correct oil and use the clutch to shift every time it will go WELL past 300,000 miles. the only thing that would wear would be the syncros, but then again that would take a long time.

just make sure the rear axel is packed with 3.73's. the best way to tell is through engine RPM's. if it is like mine and runs 2000rpm at 62mph, then you have 4.10's, anything less, I think 1750rpm at 60mph you have 3.73's.

also look at the fuse box under the hood. if the lid has any tape residue then you know a box has been on it, but I wouldnt much worry about that.

Drew,

Are there any markings on the truck or rear end to tell which rear end this truck has? As far as the tranny oil goes are there any recomended intervals to change the tranny oil?

Thanks again,

Darcy

realy the trans is supposed to be service free, however changeing it out every so often(30,000) doesnt hurt. you can look in the glove box door for the build sheet, it should be in there hopefully. that sheet will tell you everything it came with from the factory, and if it doesnt list the axel, it will be safe to assume the axels have 4.10's. the axel ratio I have is listed on this sheet, mainly due to the fact I have the off road package.

if you are going to be doing your own services like I do, I found (personaly) amsoils 5w30MTF to be very good. shifts are much improved over the factory fluids.

Drew, Could you talk a little about the auto trans in my 06. Which is it? Also I have 16k on it and I am going to change the fluid in the Trans. and rear end soon. Which Amsoil lubes do I need for my truck? I have read there site and do not know for sure which ones to use. Thanks

The auto in your 06 is a 48RE and it takes ATF+4 trans fluid. I have used Amsoil AFT4 fluid in several Dodge trans over the years and have been very happy with how well it held up.

For the axels I used Amsoil Severe Gear 75/90. That is the stock weight oil for our diffs. Some who tow heavy all of the time use 75/140 and now Amsoil has a 75/110 for thoses who don't want the heavy oil but do want more then what stock weight oil offers.

Thank you DBLR, Does our torque converters have a drain plug on them? I had one on my Chev. but did not know about the Dodge. I just hate it when you can not get all the old fluid out.
