2007 Ram 2500 with the 6.7L
Hey everyone, I just registered a few minutes ago. Last week I ordered a Ram 2500 SLT with the 6.7L and manual transmission. This will be my first diesel. Has anyoneseen one of the 6.7L enginesyet? My brother-in-law is a sales manager at a Dodge dealer in MN, and he has not seen any of the new Cummins engines yet. When I ordered mine he said the factory is not too busy right now, so I should be able to take delivery in about six weeks.
Also, I read about Drew's Brew and it sounds like a good recipe. On the Marvel website it says you should not use Marvel Mystery Oil in new diesel engines that require the new Ultra Low Sulfur Fuel. Is there an alternative to MMO for Drew's Brew?
Take it easy,
Joel

two stroke oil, but must be the ashless.
so far Ive heard all good things about this engine and the only negative being the smog crap. only time will tell if we have a 6.oh-no issue on our hands with this engine though. . .
even though I hate to say this without seeing the results over time and mileage I'm gunna hang it out, this engine should hold its own and keep up with the longevity the 5.9L did. The engine is made by Cummins. . .it was by no means rushed to production(*cough* 6.oh-no *cough*)

Yea i'll bet there arnt too many major issues. There might be small stuff programming minor issues. but definately not exhaust that lights on fire like the 6.4 twin turbo pos from ford. I too plan on buying a 6.7 with standard tranny hopefully soon just tryin to manage college money and whatnot before such a huge commitment

One of the Diesel pickup magazines on the news stands now has an article on fuel additives to use with the new ULSD, and the pros and cons.
Right now Cummins still does not endorse any additive, but GM is endorsing only two....Stanadyne and Racor.
The article warns strongly against
ashless two cycle oil,
atf
Marvel Mystery Oil
and 'straight vegetable oil'
as fuel additives for the new 2007+ diesels.
The article explains these additives might have not been harmful on diesels with mainly mechanical control, like those before year 1999, but they also did not prove to be helpful in careful testing.
