I am new to diesels as posted on other threads. I have a 06 2500 with the ctd. Well I was a bad boy. I had a fire call to go to, and didn't have time to let the glow plugs cycle. Also, on the way to the fire I reved it to 2000 rpm, but no higher. I made sure I watched the tach. This is not my normal operating procedure. Well now it seems like the engine is running a little louder. Since I am new to diesel I cannot tell if it is knocking. Is it possible that I did some dammage? Pleas ehelp. Oh yeah, it was about 45 degrees out when I did this. Thanks for your time. -Jake
I do not think there could be any damage the heating cycle circuit stops if you do not wait to start, and 2000 rpms is not excessive, but I would not make a habit doing this on a cold engine.
Dont feel bad about 2000rpms, I hung mine on 3800 in 5th racin a 6ohno the other day. Heck no you didnt hurt it. I keep mine on 2500 to 2700 on the hwy, loaded 6 to 7 hundred miles a week. 91,000 on the clicker now and no problems
The engine will be fine. People here a scared to just jump in and take off. With no load and being easy on the throttle you don't have to worry about anything. Its when you pull a load with the engine cold that things can get interesting.
