Default 4x4 Problems

I have an 03 2500 Cummins 4X4. Sometimes when I have the truck in 4hi, I will press down on my brakes and the transmission(automatic) will sound like it is grinding all to hell and the vehicle will not stop. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer and I was told that it was because of the fact the my brakes are anti-lock. The tech rode with me and we, of course, could not get the vehicle to do it again. Now I had a 99 Dakota 4X4 with anti-lock brakes manual trans that never once did this. It only seems to do it in the snow and ice. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem with my Grand Cherokee. It is the anti-lock brakes. Whenever it snowed or was slippery it sounded like the brakes were grinding.

Were you able to get the problem fixed? I have almost been in two accidents because of the issue. One would have let me drive over a cliff. I had to disengage the 4X4 to stop the truck.
